Understanding on Organic Herbs, Fruits, Vegetables & Spices

Herbs, for many are considered tonic properties, elderly & pregnant women are strongly advise to read the label carefully & understand the ingredients when buying herbs. For better benefits & effects, choose only organic herbs.

If u have an ongoing health problem or are taking prescription drugs, its best to consult your doctor before recommend to yourself, families or friends.

All herbs are to be taken before or after every meal otherwise stated, excessive taken are not advisable. Consumed herbs for weight loss programme are recommend to take – 1 tbsp, 3 x weekly, 30mins before meal.

If your symptoms persists & serious, do not take any herbs, consult your doctor for an accurate diagnosis. Do not presumed that herbs can cure everything, if u have queries regarding your health, share with your family or close friends.

For some, it may cause allergies to certain people, internal & externally.

Don’t add sugar in your herbs but use of honey are more appropriated, fruits that have been mixed with spices or herbs can be eaten.

Understand About Honey

Honey are nutritive & pleasant to take, they are the best made to give soothing, anti-septic, demulcent qualities, it also contains all the substance for bees – energy, enzymes, minerals & trace elements.

Honey can be used to draw poisons or clean infected wounds, once it is clean, honey acts as a healer.

They are especially useful to ease tight chest & sore throat, whether taken internally or applied externally; they are both soothing & healing.

Honey is easily digested & gives fast energy, useful to the old, weak or convalescent but it should not be taken by diabetic or sugar intolerant.

Glossary:

Anti-Septic – kills bacteria & prevent infection
juniper berries, aniseed, cabbage, garlic, cloves, lemon, honey, onion, salt, turmeric, vinegar, peppermint, calendula, chamomile, horseradish, cayenne & marjoram

Anti-Spasmodic – relieves spasm or cramps
aniseed, caraway, coriander, ginger, horseradish, mustard seed & peppermint

Astringent – reduce secretions, drying & contracting
lemon, sage & thyme

Carminative – relax digestive, reduce flatulence, tension & spasm
cloves, coriander, fennel, parsley, peppermint & thyme

Aftershaves / Cologne

Leafy Aftershave:

1) 3 tbsp dried strawberry leaves in a heatproof bowl
2) bring just over 1/3 cup distilled water to boil
3) then pour over the leaf, leaves to infuse for 5hrs
4) heat ½ cup rose water in a bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water
5) when hot, add 1tsp borax, stir gently till borax dissolved
6) remove the bowl from heat, strain the liquid away from the leaf
7) through a sieve into rose water & borax mixture
8) pour the liquid in a bottle, works best if it is cool
9) stored in the fridge before or after use

Hungary Water:


1) in a bowl, stir in 1 tbsp fresh mint, 1 tbsp rosemary & pour over ¼ cup vodka
2) carefully grated the peel from 1 orange, 1 lemon & to remove as much as possible
3) add the peels to the mint mixture, add ½ cup rose water & mix together
4) leave the mixture for about 1week, stirring vigorously every day & carefully strain the liquid
5) pour into a nice bottle, keep in a cool place & use as a cologne or in a bath water

Orange Cologne:


1) 2/3 cup vodka into a large perfume bottle or 2 small bottles
2) add 6 drops orange blossom oil, 2 drops coriander oil into the vodka
3) shake the bottle, leave to stand for 2 weeks
4) if u need to alter the fragrance, just add a drop more of oil, as required

Rosemary Aftershave:

1) 2 tbsp dried rosemary in a heatproof bowl
2) add in the heat with ¾ cup distilled water over the dried rosemary
3) leave to infuse for 5hrs
4) add 1 tsp almond oil, 2 drops rosemary oil, whisk gently
5) then strain into a bottle & keep refrigerated

Bath Oils

Stimulating Bath Oil:

1) ½ cup almond oil, ½ cup castor oil, 8 vitamin E oil capsules
2) 1 cup sunflower oil, 30 drops fragrance oil, 10 drops peppermint oil
3) 15 drops bergamot oil, 5 drops lavender oil, 5 drops sweet orange oil
4) mix oils, pour into a bottle with dried pineapple pieces, dried papaya pieces & dried mint leaves

Cinnamon Orange:

1) ½ cup almond oil, ½ cup castor oil, 8 vitamin E oil capsules
2) 1 cup sunflower oil, 30 drops fragrance oil, 20 drops sweet orange oil
3) 10 drops cinnamon oil, dried sliced orange peel, broken cinnamon sticks

Golden Jasmine:

1) ½ cup almond oil, ½ cup castor oil, 8 vitamin E oil capsules
2) 1 cup sunflower oil, 30 drops fragrance oil, 20 drops jasmine oil
3) 10 drops bergamot oil, 1 sheet gold leaf
4) blend oils & add the fragrant oil, tear sheet of gold leaf into pieces
5) place into bottle & pour in the ils

Blackberry Bliss:

1) ½ cup mild formula liquid soap, 1 tbsp glycerin, ½ cup castor oil
2) ½ cup almond oil, 20 drops fragrances oil, 12 drops blackberry oil
3) 6 drops bayberry oil, a few silvers of red & yellow dyed melted in 1tsp almond oil
4) mix ingredients well, they will turn nice & milky but soon separate into 3 layers



Bath Salts

Silk Milk Bath:

1) 1 cup epsom salts, 1 cup dead sea salts, 10 drops jasmine oil
2) 7 drops bergamot oil, 7 drops ylang ylang, 1 cup instant milk powder
3) 1 tbsp orris root powder
4) place the salts in a large bowl, mix well
5) scoop about ½ cup in a small bowl, add drops fragrance oil
6) into the salts & blend

Romantic Rose Bath:

1) in a large bowl, mix 3 ½ cup clear milk shower cream, 6 vitamin E oil capsules
2) ¼ cup glycerin, 1 tbsp sugar
3) 30 drops rose fragrance oil, 10 drops rose food coloring until sugar dissolved

Rose Geranium Bath:

1) in a small jug, mix 2/3 cup any organic washing up liquid
2) 2/3 cup water, 1 tsp rose geranium oil into mixture & stir
3) add 4 drops pink coloring, mix thoroughly, decant the bubble bath
4) into an attractive container, use 1 tbsp in a bath

Herbal Bath Bags:

1) in a bowl, mix 45g dried marjoram, 45g dried rosemary
2) 2 tbsp instant oats, 1 tbsp chopped orange peels
3) several organza bags
4) place the herbs mixture in the center of each bag & secure tightly
5) with a long ribbon & attach to the bath tap & allow the water runs the mixture

Lily & Lemon Bath Bags:

1) peel 2 lemons & chop roughly
2) 25g chopped ginger root, 1/3 cup instant oats, 3 drops lily of valley oil
3) in a bowl, mix all the ingredients, place the herbs mixture in the organza bags
4) secure tightly with a long ribbon & attach to the tap & allow water runs the mixture

Fruity Bath:

1) add 3 tbsp bicarbonate soda in a bowl, 12 drops sweet orange oil
2) 6 drops strawberry perfume, 4 drops pink food coloring, mix well
3) pour salts into a clear bottle, add 1 tbsp into a hot bath

Sea Bath:

1) add 1 cup epsom salt in a large bowl, 1 cup sea salt, 10 drops peppermint oil
2) 5 drops eucalyptus oil, 5 drops blue food coloring & mix well
3) scoop about ½ cup in a small bowl into a glass jar, shake well, daily before packaging

Victorian Rose:

1) add 1 cup epsom salt in a large bowl, 1 cup sea salts, 10 drops rose oil
2) 5 drops lavender oil, 2 drops clover oil, few drops of pink food coloring & mix well
3) scoop about ¼ cup to the running water, the rest can b store in a container



Doggy Comfort Bag:

1 red bandanna 22x22, 3 cups flaxseed, ¼ cup chamomile, ¼ cup lavender buds, ¼ cup mint leaves. Add the mixture into this comfort bag, that are excellent for older dogs with arthritis or for a dog recovering from surgery, who needs a warm, comfortable rest, the herb helps to repel fleas, to sun the bag, leave outside on a sunny day



Facial Scrub

Oatmeal Facial Scrub:

1) 1 cup chamomile, 1 cup grated moisturizer soap, 1 cup regular oatmeal
mix all, add into a delicious apple-pineapple scent as they relax & soothe the skin, place ¼ cup of blended mixture into a cotton scrub bag, tie tightly, wet the bag & rub over the face

Rose Mint Scrub:

1) 1 cup dried rose petals, 1 cup grated moisturizer soap, I cup dried mint leaves
mix all, add into cooling, stimulating tonic for the skin, place ¼ cup of blended mixture into a cotton scrub bag, tie tightly, wet the bag & rub over the face

Sage Herb Scrub:

1) ½ cup sage leaves, 1 cup lemon verbena, ½ cup mint leaves
2) 1 cup grated peppermint soap, ½ cup lavender buds
mix all, add into the beneficial oils to heal, stimulate & soothe. place ¼ cup of blended mixture
into a cotton scrub bag, tie tightly, wet the bag & rub over the face & body with a circular scrubbing



Baby Rose Oil:

1) 1 cup baby oil, 20 drops rose oil, dried roses
mix all, pour into a clear glass bottle, massage on baby’s face & body or ourselves

Gourmet Soap

Cinnamon Orange – fresh & refreshing

1
) 2 cup grated soap, ½ cup water, ¼ cup palm oil - melt together
2) ¼ cup almond oil, 10 drops sweet orange oil, 5 drops cinnamon oil, ¼ tsp cinnamon powder
mix in the melted mixture, pour into a plastic mold, leave till soap is set

Banana Slice – creamy, luscious & soothing

1) 2 cup grated & unscented soap, ¼ cup palm oil, ½ cup water – melt together
2) ¼ cup mashed ripe banana, 1 vitamin E capsule oil, 1 tsp citric acid, 10 drops coconut oil
mix well before adding the soap mixture, pour into plastic mold, leave till soap is set

Chamomile Oatmeal – soothing & relaxing

1) 2 cups grated & unscented soap, ¼ cup palm oil, ½ cup water – melt together
2) 1 tbsp toasted oatmeal, 1 tbsp chamomile, 10 drops chamomile oil
3) 5 drops clary sage oil, 2 drops ylang ylang
mix well before adding the soap mixture, pour into plastic mold, leave till soap is set

Seafood in Aspic – dinner party centerpiece

1) 1kg glycerin base soap, 1 tsp rosewood oil,3 drops green liquid food coloring
2) handful of dried seaweed & cockle shells
cut the base soap into rough chunk, place into a double-boiler heat as low as possible
until the soap is melted, cover the saucepan, once it is melted add food coloring, stir gently to
avoid air bubbles, pour into plastic mold, arrange the seaweed & shells on the surface of the soap
& let it, sink gently.. leave till soap is set

Peppermint Refreshment – invigorating & refreshing spirits

1) 2 cups grated & unscented soap, ¼ cup coconut oil, ½ cup water – melt together
2) 1 tsp crushed peppermint, 10 drops peppermint oil, 5 drops rosemary oil
3) 5 drops eucalyptus oil, 5 drops tea tree oil
mix well before adding the soap mixture, pour into plastic mold, leave till soap is set

Amber Delight

1) 1 cup transparent soap, melt ½ cup in the microwave, at a time
2) Few slivers of soap color dye: yellow, red & black
3) 1 tbsp grated transparent soap, 10 drops amber oil
mix the ½ cup soap with the coloring well, add the oil, pour into plastic mold till soap in half set
mix the remaining mixture with grated soap, the color bits add extra interest, they look like a crack, don’t worry if there is a small bubbles, it add the effect

Milk & Honey – cleansing & nourishing

1) 1 cup grated pure vegetable soap, 2/3 cup water – melt together
2) 1 tbsp milk powder, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp almond oil, 20 drops jasmine oil
mix the milk powder, honey, oils before adding into soap mixture, pour into plastic mold
leave till soap is set

Honey & Almond – light & soothing

1) 1 cup grated vegetable soap, 1/3 cup water – melt together on a double-boiler
2) 1 tbsp melted beeswax
mix soap & beeswax together
3) 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp ground almonds, ½ tbsp almond oil
mix all together, pour into plastic mold, leave till soap is set for 3wks before packaging

Mango Mint Shampoo Bar – beautiful & silky hair

1) 1 cup grated soap, ½ cup water – melt together on a double-boiler
2) ¼ cup olive oil, ¼ cup castor oil, 1 tsp crushed mint leaves, 15 drops mango oil
mix all together, pour into plastic mold, leave till soap is set

Lavender Citrus – fragrant & stimulating to the skin

1) 2 cup grated soap, ½ cup water – melt together on a double-boiler
2) 6 vitamin E oil capsules, 1 tbsp ground lemon verbena
3) 1 tbsp lavender buds, 10 drops lavender oil, 20 drops sweet orange oil
mix all together, scoop out a small handful & create the shape u like

Tequila Sunrise

1) 1kg glycerin soap base into chunk - melt on a double-boiler
divide it into 3 jugs, add each with different fragrance oil & red, yellow, orange food coloring
pour the red mixture into the bottom of the plastic mold, halfway set.. pour orange, lastly
yellow till it completely set

Rosemary Sea

1) 100g grated soap, 100g sweet almond oil, 2 tbsp rosemary, 200g coarse seasalt
2) ½ tsp rosemary – melt on a double-boiler
mix almond oil & rosemary, keep to stand about 20mins, then mix all the ingredients, pour into
wide necked jar, do not use the scrub, until it is completely cold

Strawberry Rose – fruity floral scent

1) 1 cup grated strawberry transparent soap, ¼ cup water – melt on a double-boiler
2) 10 drops rose oil
mix all together, pour into plastic heart-shape mold, leave till soap halfway set before press in rose buds

Rose Spice

1) 1 cup grated soap, ¼ cup rose water, ¼ cup coconut oil – melt on a double-boiler
2) ½ tsp cinnamon powder, 1 tbsp almond oil, 10 drops rose oil, 5 drops cinnamon oil
3) red food coloring
mix all together, scoop out a small handful & create the shape u like

Honey Bee

1) 1 cup grated soap, 1 tbsp beeswax – melt on a double-boiler
mix all together, add 2 tbsp honey & stir till melted, pour into beehive plastic mold, leave till soap is set

Vodka On The Rocks

1) 1kg glycerin, 1 tsp own choice fragrance oil – melt on a double-boiler
mix all together, stir gently to avoid air bubbles, pour into plastic mold, leave till soap is set

Melon Seed

1) 1kg glycerin, 1 tsp melon oil, 5 drops red food coloring – melt on a double-boiler
mix all together, stir gently to avoid air bubbles, pour into round plastic mold, leave till halfway set, arrange black seeds in a strip along the center of the surface of the soap & let it set

Flower Fancies

1) 1kg glycerin, 1 tsp own choice fragrance oil, 6 silk flower heads – melt on a double-boiler
mix glycerin & oil together, stir gently to avoid air bubbles, pour into plastic mold, leave till halfway set press the flower head at the center of each mold till completely set

Confetti

1) 1 cup grated soap, 1 cup white soap in separate container – melt on a double-boiler
mix all together, pour into a plastic mold, leave till soap is set

Coffee & Cream

1) 2 cup grated transparent soap, 4 tbsp instant coffee powder – melt on a double-boiler
2) 2 tsp whipping cream, 2 tsp aloe vera gel
mix all together, pour into a plastic mold, allow to set for 4hrs

Love Potion

1) ½ cup purified
water, ½ cup vodka, 1 handful fresh rose petals
mix all together, pour into a decorative perfume bottle, seal tightly & shake gently, store in a cool dry place for 7days, strain out the petals then add in 6 drops rose scented oil, store in the fridge, wear on pulse points as a perfume



Properties

Aloe Vera Gel – extracted from the leaf of a cactus, this is a healing gel that is good for dry, chapped skin, eczema & for soothing burns

Apricots – dried or fresh apricots can be pulped & added to your bar of soap, apricots are packed with vitamins & minerals & serve as a valuable skin softener, apricot kernel oil contains skin-softening properties

Beeswax – available in white or gold & use widely as an emulsifier, gives bar of soap a lovely waxy feel & honey smell, it will add to the hardness of the bar & speed of trace

Benzoin – available in powder or liquid form, benzoin is a natural preservative that serves as a fixative for your fragrances

Borax – this mineral increases the cleaning power of your bar of soap, softens the water & also acts as a valuable disinfectant

Bran – this is an outer husk of any grain & will add bulk & texture of the soap, it acts as a natural exfoliate as it is slightly abrasive

Carrots – also available as an essential oil, carrots can be liquidized & added directly to the soap & enhance the rich of vitamins C & A, carrots are particularly good for chapped & dry skin

Coffee – fresh coffee beans, ground to a fine powder are particularly useful for removing odours such as onion & garlic from your hands

Cornmeal – it is useful exfoliate for oily skin, available in white & yellow

Cucumber – it have an astringent quality & good cleansing power of the skin

Evening Primrose Oil – good for eczema & helps to prevent premature ageing of the skin

Glycerin – a clear syrupy liquid produced naturally in cold-process soap making extra glycerin can be added to increase the moisturizing properties of the soap

Grapefruit Seed Extract – a valuable antioxidant with anti-bacterial & deodorizing properties

Honey – it has wonderful emollient properties but for best results, warm it before adding to your soap mix & be sure to stir it well, use honey with beeswax or shea butter as it does have a tendency to soften soap

Jojoba Oil – the oil is both a moisturizer & humectants

Lanolin – a wax that comes from sheep’s wool, lanolin has great skin softening properties, be aware though that some people are allergic to lanolin

Lemon & Oranges – the dried & finely grated peel of citrus fruits contain a high level of vitamins C, lemons in particular have strong anti-bacterial qualities

Mustard Powder – a small quality of mustard can help unclog pores

Oatmeal – it is a pleasing texture & acts as a gentle exfoliate

Pumice – the abrasive quality of finely ground pumice will help to remove stubborn & stains from the hands

Seaweed – it helps to improve the skin’s texture & color, packed with vitamins & minerals

Shea Butter – this makes a hard, creamy & conditioning a bar of soap – luscious

Silk Fibers – these really do make soap silky

Vitamin E Oil – this is an antioxidant that retards deterioration of fresh matter in soap & also helps to prevent wrinkles

Wheatgerm – this has many beneficial uses in soap, the germ itself can be powdered & use mildly abrasive quality, the oil is antioxidant & particularly gentle.



Mixing Scent Oils

Bay – widely used in perfumery, this rich aromatic oil is particular sensual when mixed with nutmeg & mandarin, makes a great masculine soap

Bergamot – produced from orange rind, bergamot are clean, fresh, revitalizing scent often use in aftershaves, good for oily skin & recommended by aromatherapists for the treatment of eczema & acne

Chamomile – distilled from the flowers & leaves of this common herb, chamomile is good for dry & sensitive skins & recommended by aromatherapists to relieve acne & dermatitis

Cardamom – exotic spicy scent extracted from a plant seed, relieves headache & nausea

Carrot – revitalizing scent, particularly good for sensitive skins & recommended by aromatherapists for the treatment of eczema & psoriasis

Cedarwood – extracted from the wood of the cedar tree, provides a soft woody undertone that calms anxiety, especially when blended with sandalwood, good antiseptic properties

Citronella – refreshing citrus fragrance, extremely useful as a bug repellant & deodorant

Clary Sage – extracted from the flowers of the herb, clary sage is the scent to use if u love the smell of a country morning, this precious oil has antiseptic & deodorizing qualities

Eucalyptus – powerful, antiseptic scent, useful as an insect & flea repellent, it is recommended by aromatherapists for relief from acne, it has anti-fungal properties

Frankincense – exotic, spicy, balsamic fragrance with antiseptic & revitalizing qualities, good ageing, oily or cracked skin

Geranium – sweet, heady fragrance that benefits from combining with the sharper citrus or lavender oils, anti-depressant qualities, good for all skin types & recommended by aromatherapists for relief from eczema & dermatitis

Ginger – warm spicy fragrance with antiseptic qualities

Lavender – fresh pungent fragrance with antiseptic & antibiotic qualities, recommended for oily & sensitive skin types

Lemon – good for oily skins with anti-fungal & astringent qualities, use together with a rough filter to exfoliate the skin

Marjoram – good for oily skin due to its antiseptic qualities
Myrrh – warm & woody, good for fingernails

Neroli – it has revitalizing properties & is recommended by aromatherapists for the relief of dermatitis

Patchouli – a warm peppery fragrance, has a good antiseptic properties & is recommended for the relief of eczema & acne, it also deters dandruff

Peppermint – clean, fresh & a little overpowering with its antiseptic & insect repellent qualities, should not be use during the first 3 months of pregnancy

Pine – helps the circulation & keeps the flies away, ideal fragrances for men

Rose – heady scent is seductive & its antiseptic qualities are useful, it could eliminate the anti-stress / depressant

Rosewood – stimulates the skin cells & tissues & is beneficial to ageing skins, it is also an aphrodisiac

Sandalwood – good for dry & ageing skin & is recommended for relief of eczema & skin irritations
Tangerine – a good choice for antiseptic & soothing qualities

Tea Tree – strong antiseptic & cleansing qualities & helpful for itchy skin, insect bites & acne

Ylang Ylang – good for most skin types, useful in shampoo bars & hair rinses as it acts as a tonic & promotes growth
